Seven Pearland-area runners complete Hottest Half

Seven Pearland-area runners completed the Hottest Half on Aug. 12 in Dallas.

The Pearland runners were: Tim Brindley, 34, (1:46:32); Dan Orth, 29, (1:53:43); Shelito Alviza, 40, (2:05:22); Jacalyn Johnson-Alviza, 33, (2:16:32); and Samantha Garza, 21, (3:14:20).

The runners from Deer Park were: Stephanie Bounds, 25, (2:13:14); and Orer Womack, 63, (3:25:37).

A total of 1,337 runners finished the 13.1-mile half marathon, which started and ended at the Norbuck Park parking lot.

Matthew Peters of Denton was the overall winner of the race with a time of 1:16:38. Virginia Jones of League City was the winner in the women's division, finishing in 1:23:52.
