Purple Monkey Fun Run set for Sept. 1
The Purple Monkey Fun Run will take place at 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 at Alvin High School, located at 802 S. Johnson St. in Alvin. According to the event's website, the race will include a 1K for participants age 12 and younger, a 5K for participants of all ages and a 10K for participants of all ages. For those who pre-register, the cost is $10 for the 1K and $25 for both the 5K and the 10K. Participants who register the day of the race will pay $15 for the 1K and $35 for both the 5K and the 10K. Alvin Independent School District students will receive a $3 discount on the 1K and a $5 discount on the 5K and 10K. Timing chips and race packets may be picked up from 6-7 a.m. the day of the race in Gym 3 at Alvin High School. Registration may also be completed in person between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31 at the Alvin YMCA, 3201 S. Highway 35 in Alvin. Packets will also be available for pickup at this time.
