IESI changes name to 'Progressive,' offers new recycling cart option
Friendswood's new garbage collection partner is undergoing some changes while it expands its services. In March, the city signed a new agreement with IESI, which recently changed its name to Progressive. Residents should start to see the company's identity change on equipment and trucks. As a part of the new collection agreement, Friendswood is offering citizens a new way to recycle. Customers may continue to use the 18-gallon recycle bin currently in use, or they can receive a new 95-gallon enclosed recycle cart on wheels for an additional monthly fee of $1. Another addition to the partnership between the city and Progressive is the addition of recycle containers in all city parks, in which residents may place cardboard, paper, aluminum cans and empty plastic bottles and food packaging containers. For more information on the cart, call the city's Utility Billing Office at 281-996-3232.
