Keep Pearland Beautiful awarded Think Green grant
Keep Pearland Beautiful received a $10,000 Waste Management Think Green grant Aug. 6.
Pearland was one of 10 Keep America Beautiful city beautification programs to receive the award. Recipients are recognized for increasing area recycling, expanding environmental education and promoting green initiatives.
"Keep America Beautiful applauds the work of all of this year's grant winners and their continuing efforts to create and sustain greener, more vibrant communities," said Keep America Beautiful President and CEO Matthew M. McKenna, in a press release. "We're thankful to Waste Management for their ongoing partnership and transformative support of America's communities through the Think Green Grant program."
Other city programs that received Think Green Grants include Greensboro, N.C, Duluth, Ga., Hampton, Va., Hot Springs, Ark., Fort Worth, Texas, Greenville, S.C., Jackson, Miss., Reno, Nev. and Winston-Salem, N.C.
The grant money is used for toward community involvement projects to further environmental goals. Waste Management has provided funds for more than 100 Keep America Beautiful projects over the past eight years.
