Alvin ISD to host clothing swap on Aug. 13
The Alvin Independent School District will host its second Community School Clothes Swap from 7-11 a.m. and 2-6 p.m. on Aug. 13 at Alvin Junior High and Jeter Elementary.
The swap is to help local families acquire free clothing for the upcoming school year. Gently used children's clothing can be exchanged for clothing that is suitable in size.
"It is our hope to take some of the financial burden off of our families by preventing them from having to purchase clothing for the upcoming school year," said Denise Babb, Alvin ISD director of federal programs.
Clothes must be dropped off from 2-6 p.m. on Aug. 2 and from 7 a.m. to noon on Aug. 4 at one of the following locations: Alvin High School, Manvel High School, Alvin Junior High, Stevenson Primary, Jeter Elementary or Mary Marek Elementary.
Families donating clothing will receive a voucher enabling them to pick up their new clothes on Aug. 13.
Alvin Junior High is at 2300 W. South St., and Jeter Elementary School is at 2455 County Road 58, Rosharon.
