Alvin, Pasadena, and Pearland runners complete Impact a Hero 5K Run
Runners from Alvin, Pasadena, and Pearland completed the Impact a Hero 5K Run on June 2 in Sugar Land.
Alan Ping, 57, of Alvin, completed the race in 42:30:00, while Allison Lanier, 26, of Pasadena, took 26:10:00. Cathy Nguyen, 45, and Sumit Anand, 31, were among the fastest Pearland runners to finish. They completed the race in 28:43:00 and 36:56:00, respectively. Teresa Miller, Marla Vasquez and Brenda Bricker were the other Pearland runners who crossed the finish line.
A total of 938 runners finished the 5K race, which was held in Mercer Stadium. The goal of the race is to bring a "Message of Appreciation" to troops who participated in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Kipkirui Ruttoh, 26, was the men's overall winner with a time of 15:06:00, while Emily Shulik, 22, was the women's winner in 19:04:00.
