HS girls basketball preview: Chavez vs. Lamar
District 20-5A rivals Chavez and Lamar will battle in girls high school basketball action on Friday.
Chavez is 7-16 on the season and 1-4 in district play. The Lobos are coming off a 46-45 loss to Westbury on Tuesday.
Junior Chelse Smith is averaging 13 points per game to lead her team in scoring.
The Lobos will next visit Sam Houston on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Lamar is 5-11 on the season and 3-4 in district play. The Redskins are coming off a 60-14 win over Sam Houston on Tuesday.
Sierra Mendoza leads her team in scoring with an average of 15 points per game.
The Redskins will next visit Westbury Christian on Monday at noon.
Friday’s tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
